The Continuous Strength Method – Review and outlook

The Continuous Strength Method (CSM) is a deformation-based approach to the design of structures that enables continuous, rational and accurate allowance for material nonlinearity (i.e. spread plasticity strain hardening). Central method application limits, determined on basis local slenderness full cross-sections, define resistance structural member or system. can be applied formed using different materials (e.g. steel, stainless steel aluminium) manufacturing processes hot-rolled cold-formed) through assignment suitable stress–strain relationships, used steel–concrete composite in fire scenarios.
